Installing and using raid catcher

I am going to try to make these instructions nice and simple but if I skip a step and you have a problem please ask a question in the comments.

1. Install greasemonkey(firefox), tampermonkey(chrome) or something else (if you use a diff browser you will have to figure this part out on your own.

2. Download and install raid catcher
  a. click the link above
  b. click on the small green install button in the upper right hand corner of the page

3. Look in your game and see if you have the new raids tab, if not refresh then click it once it appears.

4. In order for raid catcher to work you must submit your own raids.  They must be fresh raids that have not already been added to the raid catcher database.  The image below will show you how to add your own raids.

5. Adjust settings - I highly recommend choosing to store raids locally or else every time you reload the game you will need to to another import.  I also recommend selecting to hide visited raids.  Here is an image of my settings.

6. I am not going to include an image for this but you should go to the filters tab and make sure only raids you actually want to hit are imported.

7. Go back to the import tab and for your first time importing change the pull down that says "Latest" to "Days" and enter 3 in the text box and click import.  If you are storing raids locally you can leave it set to "Latest" for all future imports.

8. Once your raids are imported click on the raids tab within raid catcher and you will see all of the raids.  You can filter these raids by zone, name, or type in the boss.  Adding raids to the game is different depending on your platform.
  • On Armor Games right click the blue text that says "link" and choose copy, then just paste it into the join box in the game.
  • On Kongregate you can select join all and it will autojoin all the raids.  When it is done just hit refresh and they will all show up in your in-game raid list.

 Searching the list for specific raids

On the search tab some useful filters that can be typed into the text box next to Boss are:
  • You can filter by zone by typing in z10 if you want zone ten raids
  • If you only want Krugnug you can just type Krug or any partial string
  • I find the most useful to be raid type.  You can type in "demon" to only get demon raids.  This is useful so you can change to a special demon legion and then do all of those raids.

A brother's gotta make some money

I haven't been around much in the game the last couple of weeks because I can't easily connect but also because I have been busy with some side projects.  I started my own online bookstore at www.cryptobooks.com

At cryptobooks we take paypal but we also take virtual currencies such as bitcoin.

When I was working on setting it up I had no bitcoins to test with in the beginnning so I started looking for ways to get free bitcoins and I started a blog getyourfreebitcoins.blogspot.com to put down what I learned.

Help, I can't connect.

A fair number of people seem to be experiencing this lately and so far no real solutions have fixed the problem.  I offer below what I consider to be a guaranteed solution to the problem albeit a less than perfect one.  Whether your ISP is blocking the game as 5PG suggests or 5PG has a configuration problem as my ISP suggested using a private vpn will have you back playing the game in no time.  If you are F2P and don't want to spend any money than you can use the tor browser although you will have to jump through some hoops to get flash working in it.

If you are more like me than a private vpn is a solution that will give you fast access to the game without a ton of lag.  I am recommending the company below and as full disclosure I do get a cut if you signup with them but understand that the only reason I am promoting them is because they are the company that I am using currently to play the game.

How to add to your Army/Colosseum Team on Kong/Armor Games/Newgrounds

Newgrounds

You cant.  Wasn't that the fastest tutorial ever.

Armor Games

Add people as friends on Armor Games.  The long way of doing this is to go from profile to profile and seeing if someone plays DotD and hoping they are a decent level.  The quick way is to add me by clicking the link below and then add my friends.  Once you have added people go into the army page and click show army.  You will now be able to add these people to your colosseum team.

Kongregate

There are scripts for this.  Here is a link to one of them

Blocking Laggy Animations on DotD

PVP can be brutally slow because of the familiar and SoCK animations but you probably already know that.  Below are instructions to make that a thing of the past.  The instructions are for Firefox but you should be able to find the adblocking software I use for all browsers or an equivalent.

Step 1:
Get this and install it https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/

Step 2.
Press CTRL-Shift-A to bring up the add-ons window

Step 3.
Click Options on the adblock plus addon.

Step 4.
Click Filter Preferences button

Step 5.
Click add filter group and name it DOTD Animations

Step 6.
On the right hand side click add filter and then add each of the following filters one at a time

||5thplanetgames-origin.cdnetworks.net/dotd_live/images/items/equip/*.swf
||5thplanetgames-origin.cdnetworks.net/dotd_live/images/items/bosses/*.swf
||5thplanetgames-origin.cdnetworks.net/dotd_live/images/items/pets/*.swf
||dawnofthedragons.cdngc.net/dotd_live/images/items/equip/*.swf
||dawnofthedragons.cdngc.net/dotd_live/images/items/bosses/*.swf
||dawnofthedragons.cdngc.net/dotd_live/images/items/pets/*.swf

These are brand new
||5thplanetdawn.insnw.net/dotd_live/images/items/pets/*
||5thplanetdawn.insnw.net/dotd_live/images/items/equip/*
||5thplanetdawn.insnw.net/dotd_live/images/bosses/*.swf

I ask that you please also add the following line so that you don't block stuff on my blog.

Play Dawn of the Dragons on your iPad

As anyone on armor games would probably tell you I play DotD way more than I probably should.  Occasionally I need my fix but I am not near my PC.  The iPad not supporting flash is a major inconvenience which I am happy to say that I am able to work around using an app on my ipad.  The Photon Flash browser for the ipad allows you to access flash games and sites on your iPad that you otherwise wouldn't be able to. While I have only tested it with Dawn of the Dragons on the Armor Games and Kongregate platforms I assume it would work just as well on Newgrounds and Facebook.

While I wouldn't recommend it as your sole means to play the game - pvp can be a bit miserable on a touch screen - it is very handy for dumping some energy and stam that might otherwise be wasted.

Feel free to comment with any questions about how it works or give it a try yourself by clicking the link below.  When I bought it the price was $4.99 which is for what you get is well worth it if you ask me.

Why you should only buy the King's Bounty

Just a quick post to educate the new player to why you should save your AP to buy only the King's Bounty.

Many players buy the lower level AP rewards because they either don't know any better or are too impatient to wait to gather 10 thousand AP.  The lower level rewards occasionally throw out a planet coin but in general you will receive crafting materials for items you wouldn't want to craft in the first place. Popinjay's Footwear which has stats of 70 att, 70 def, 60 perc.  You can get better boots than this by hitting any number of raids.

The kings bounty will also give you some pretty bad gear but with a huge silver lining. Here is the list of items in the King's Bounty which unlike the lower level rewards are all unique.

The Red Prince's Legplates - (Pants) (95A, 95D, 95P)
The Red Prince's Cuirass - (Chest) (95A, 95D, 95P)
Avenger of the Realm - (Main Hand) (200A, 80D)
Defender of the Realm - (Off Hand) (80A, 200D)
Henchmen - (Legion) (3 Generals: Intellect; 16 Troops: Strength; Power Bonus: 200)
Once you have all 5 of these items you are guaranteed to get 150 planet coins each time you cash in 10 thousand AP.  It is possible to get 150 PC before getting the 5 items above but I wouldn't count on it as that seems to be a very rare occurrence.

Now when you first start playing 10k AP may seem a very long way off but eventually it will roll in pretty fast and then you can use your new found PC riches to buy some gear that is actually worth it.

New chart and more to come

With leon being down I am working on getting up some charts that people use regularly.  If there is something in the game that you need info on comment on it here and I will do my best to post it.

I have just added a chart that has the ap and 2 epics damage required for non guild non tiered raids.  I will add the guild raid chart separately.

Dawn of the Dragons - Legion Proc Rules

So when talking to some other members of the guild I found out that this information that I thought I didn't know because I am an idiot is actually unknown by many a seasoned player.

When filling the equipment spots for your legion it is important that you do not use the same gear as on your personal character if you use gear that has a proc.  I will give a specific example of why this is so important.

Because I have more money than sense I own both the Drunken Angel and the Ninja Set from the new item expeditions.  Even though the Drunken Angel set is more powerful and I could use it on both my personal character from my profile and also have my commander wear it this would result in a huge loss of potential damage.

If my character and my commander are wearing the same helm and I only have one of them then it will only proc once for bonus damage.  so you will never get to procs from a single piece of equipment.  If I had two Drunken Angel helm's in my inventory then the commander and I can both wear them and they could both have a chance to proc.

This is mentioned in the in game help page for the legion screen but I certainly didn't read it and most of those I have talked to had no idea about this rule either.

Any questions leave a comment here or on my wall in DotD.
